David VS Goliath
Bullying. What a complex issue faced by many youths and children today. How do we deal with it? The above scenario is becoming quite common in the school system and with the constant decrease of funding the Government allocates to the Education, we are seeing less supervision on our children and youths. We are faced with a school system with children and youths facing so many issues, whether it is from the school yard, family life, or personal life. Yet, there are less and less programs and services within the school system with positive role models to create a respectful and encouraging environment.
In response to the array of issues faced by the children and youths today, THE BC EXTREME TEAM is known for bringing the outdoors into the classroom, or bringing your classroom to one of our Outdoor Adventure Centers. Through a number of elements, we encourage communication, breaking down barriers, which help build spirit through awareness and responsibility. Along with the wilderness, we specialize in diversity training, bringing people to a common goal of understanding the differences individuals face within the school yard and home life.
We work with different types of youth in the same program: children who have bullying tendencies are matched up with those who may have otherwise experienced bullying. We dissect and review the shortfalls each character type. Through communication and role-playing, the children learn to counter these very real situations. The participants quickly discover the common character traits of each. By working together they build the tools to overcome obstacles. The weaknesses of one group become the strengths of the other. It's very exciting to see the end results. Self-confidence increases with every step, and opponents turn into allies.
This an ICU workshop on Bullying and Leadership - how one isn't the same as the other. Learn how to be a positive role model within the schoolyard and community. Join THE BC EXTREME TEAM, through a series of interactive games and role-playing workshops. We will explore the challenge of leadership and how to make a positive difference in your community. The art of leadership is not an easy skill, especially with the diverse community we live in today. One must have the determination to achieve and the means to succeed. THE BC EXTREME TEAM will examine the different kind of struggles young leaders face and some effective techniques to overcome them. This program is offered through the Vancouver School Board.
